Overview

The concierge and security assistant is responsible for operating the security desk, patrolling the building and grounds, following post orders, and serving as a general security presence and visible deterrent. This assistant supports the facilities team in the day-to-day implementation of policies, procedures, and programs while supporting AEI’s goals and objectives.

 

This is a full-time, hourly role, with the expectation to work a majority of weekday shifts (6:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.) and some weekend shifts (9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.). Qualified candidates should submit a resume as their application.

Responsibilities

  • 60%: Security
    • Staff and maintain the security desk.
    • Regularly monitor building security cameras while at the desk.
    • Patrol the property at the beginning and end of shifts; complete and send a security log after each shift recording any notable events.
    • Control access to the building, track and maintain an inventory of all visitor and contractor access badges, and prevent unauthorized guests from entering the property.
    • Promptly report to the management any issue related to an employee, access, safety, security, or maintenance.
  • 30%: Concierge Services
    • Assist and guide AEI employees, guests, and vendors while maintaining a visible and professional appearance on duty.
    • Assist the Events team with guest check-ins, controlling crowds as needed.
  • 10%: Facilities Services
    • Assist with building emergencies and evacuations, if needed. (This requires familiarity with AEI’s crisis management plan.)
    • Maintain open communication with the facilities management team.
    • Assist the facility management team with special projects as needed.

Physical requirements and working conditions at AEI:

  • The employee is regularly expected to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard. This job requires close vision abilities due to computer work.
  • The employee must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
  • The employee must be able to work in a confined area.
  • Moderate noise (e.g., from computers, phone, printers, and light traffic) is expected.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma (required) and at least 5-years of verifiable work history (required)
  • At least 2 years of security experience (preferred)
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills (written and oral)
  • Thorough attention to detail and the ability to remain alert and aware of surroundings
  • The ability to remain patient and calm under pressure
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), navigating the internet, and basic file management (required)

Compensation is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: scope and responsibilities of the position; a candidate's full-time, applicable work experience; key skills and qualifications; as well as internal and external market considerations. The salary range for this full-time, nonexempt position is $22-25 an hour. Salary is just one component of AEI’s total compensation package for employees.
